Conclusion

Matthew 25:1-10 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them; but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom!  Come out to meet him.’  Then all the maidens rose and trimmed their lamps.  And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise replied, ‘Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you; go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went with him to the marriage feast; and the door was shut.

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Leviticus 24:2 The Lord said to Moses “Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the lamp, that light may be kept burning continually.

When I was a little girl after story time (The Golden Treasury of Bible Stories) my mom would take turns with my brother and me rocking on her lap. She would sing Sabbath school songs like “The Wise Man” and “Zacchaeus” and others, but she always ended with “This Little Light of Mine” which was my favorite….and it goes like this….This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine, this little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Won’t let Satan blow it out, I’m going to let it shine, won’t let Satan blow it out, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Hide it under a bushel “NO”, I’m going to let it shine...All around my neighborhood I’m going to let it shine….Let it shine till Jesus comes, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine till Jesus comes, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.

If ever there is a time to let our lamps shine it is now. We need to wake up, hear the call “The bridegroom approaches” trim and light our lamps for all His guests, “our family” to see. He is coming and it is soon!

Just a note: Throughout this study there have been “new” thoughts come to mind. It seems in each step of the way something “dawns” on me. For instance: Jesus the light of the world (our salvation) and the blind man. The disciples asked Jesus why he was born blind, Jesus’ reply = to give God glory. This entire study began with “blindness”, I have been blind, and now I see, it is all for God’s glory, I can’t claim any of it for my own. I was blind but now I see. As the years pass & for eternity my eyes will see clearer and more brightly. Praise God!
